In a perfect world, we would all have hair like Blake Lively – unnaturally blonde and flawless, thick and curly, that made everyone else hate you for having God give to you with so many hands. That’s not my life however. I was born with very difficult hair to handle. However – a couple of years ago, I started getting extensions, which changed my life. Extensions where the Gail to my Oprah, the Jonathan to my Kim. I’m telling you everything I know about extensions, since I get so many questions about them!
They’re more affordable than you think
For years, I thought that extensions were only for really rich people. However, the kind I use, is surprisingly affordable. After seeing tape-in extensions on Lauren Conrad’s blog (who I’ve loved since her Laguna Beach days), and calling around to some different salons with great yelp reviews, I found out that yes, the initial investment of buying the hair is a little pricey, but after that, it’s not too bad. If you pay to color your hair, you can definitely afford extensions if you’re interested.
They’re less damaging than you think
For years, I was told that extensions would break off all your hair. This couldn’t be further from the truth. I get tape-in extensions because it’s the least damaging to your hair (it’s actually less damaging that coloring your hair!). If anything, my hair has grown so much since I started getting them.
They don’t hurt to have in
So many people think that they hurt, or are uncomfortable on your head – but to be honest, I can’t even feel them. I can wear hats, or a pony-tail, or a braid, and it doesn’t feel like I have them in my head.
At the end of the day, what used to be something that only pop-stars or Paris Hilton got, is now something affordable that really anyone looking to change up their hair can do. I use Cinderella Hair Extensions, and LOVE them. If you’re looking, that’s my recommendation.
